When compared to control subjects, sulbutiamine-treated mice learned the task at the same rate in only one session, but demonstrated hugely improved performance when tested 24 hours after partially learning the same task. Similar neurochemical studies showed that sulbutiamine induced 10% but marked increase in hippocampal sodium-dependent unusually good affinity choline uptake. The current findings and earlier results indicate that sulbutiamine improves memory formation.
